Teaching Writing to Adult English Language Learners

Presented by: Capital Region Language Center

Writing is often one of our ESL students’ weakest skills. However, it is important for many jobs and essential for students preparing to enter college. Teaching writing can seem intimidating. This interactive workshop will help take the mystery out of teaching writing by breaking it down into manageable pieces. The focus will be primarily on academic writing. Topics will include: the writing process, paragraph/essay structure, coherence, common grammar errors, the use of feedback, understanding plagiarism, and strategies for writing clearly and concisely. The workshop will include a variety of hands-on activities, and participants will also have a chance to share tips and resources.
